Lionel Messi dines out on holiday with wife Antonella as La Liga president insists Barcelona superstar is 'not a criminal'

Lionel Messi has continued to take his mind off all matters relating to business as the Barcelona superstar enjoyed a relaxing night of fine dining with his other half Antonella on holiday.
Messi, sentenced for tax fraud and retired from international football, is doing his best to end a summer of lows on a high note with wife Antonella and sons Mateo and Thiago on a family break.

The Barcelona star is recovering from a long season for club and country, which culminated in him announcing his retirement from international football after his failure to win the Copa America with Argentina.

The 29-year-old has endured a difficult summer with his penalty miss in the final shootout against Chile compounded by him and his father Jorge being found guilty by a Catalan court of three counts of defrauding the tax department to the tune of £3.5 million.
But the five-time Ballon d'Or winner will not have to spend a night behind bars owing to the his lack of prior convictions and Spanish law, so it was no surprise he looked far removed from any troubles as his wife planted a kiss on him.

The loved-up pair have been on holiday in Formentera with Lionel seen sporting a beard on a luxury yacht whilst sunbathing throughout the past week.

Meanwhile, La Liga president Javier Tebas spoke out in support of Messi, stating that he does not view the Barcelona star as 'a criminal.'
Tebas has urged supporters not to hold the conviction against the Argentine through fear he may look to continue his career away from Spain should he receive a torrent of abuse next season.

'I've already spoken about Messi - I don't consider him a criminal and I'm happy with him staying in La Liga,' Tebas said on Wednesday.
'There are still options for the player and we have to wait for the final decision.'
Barcelona launched a campaign earlier this week with the hashtag #WeAreAllLeoMessi, calling on fans to 'express their sympathy' with the player, but it was met with widespread condemnation.
