Manchester United Transfer News and Rumors: Jose Mourinho Demands Club Chiefs To Sign Saul Niguez

Manchester United face competition for John Stones with a bidding war set to begin, while there are updates on Van der Wiel, Aubameyang and more.

Manchester United have been told to do all they can to sign Athletico Madrid's Saul Niguez this summer, according to the Daily Star Sunday.
Jose Mourinho reportedly sees the versatile Spaniard as the key man in his plans to take United back to the top of the Premier League.

But Atletico Madrid are believed to value their young star at £54million - his release clause - meaning he would take up a large chunk of the summer war chest.
Niguez, 21, has only recently just agreed a new deal at Atletico, which is thought to be worth around £80,000-a-week.

Manchester United will be forced to step up their attempts to land John Stones this summer with Barcelona preparing to swoop, according to the Mail on Sunday.
The Catalan giants are reportedly preparing to submit a £25million bid for the England centre-back, who has also been attracting interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.
Everton are believed to value Stones at around £45million so it is unlikely that Barca's opening offer will be accepted.

But the Toffees are hopeful that Stones can impress at Euro 2016 next month which will convince teams to match his price tag.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in the "process of changing clubs," his international manager has revealed.
The Daily Star Sunday report that his Gabon boss Jorge Costa has claimed that a looming transfer has played a part in his recent team selection.
Costa said: "Aubameyang asked me not to be selected because he is in the process of changing clubs."
Manchester United and Arsenal are among the Premier League teams reportedly keen on signing the Borussia Dortmund front man this summer, but Real Madrid are the favourites for his signature.

Manchester United will be forced to battle it out for the signature of Gregory van der Wiel, according to the Sunday Express.
The 28-year-old is out-of-contract at Paris Saint-Germain next month and will be available as a free agent.
But while United have been touted as potential suitors, West Ham are alleged to have made an initial approach, putting pressure on their rivals to act.
Manchester United are reported to have taken an interest in Van der Wiel as they look to boost their defensive ranks under new boss Jose Mourinho.

Marcus Rashford expects to agree terms on a lucrative new contract with Manchester United after Euro 2016, writes Mirror Football's Tom Hopkinson.
The 18-year-old strike sensation pockets £1,500 a week on his current deal, with a £5,000 bonus for every appearance.
But he can expect to up his weekly salary to around £35,000 with United - and new boss Jose Mourinho - ready to reward him for the progress he has made this season.
Rashford scored eight goals in 18 appearances after being given his chance by former United boss Louis van Gaal

Manchester United are tracking promising Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford, writes Neil Moxley in the Sunday People.
The 22-year-old has just committed his future to the Black Cats for the next four seasons but that has not stopped the Red Devils from ordering their scouting staff to monitor the shot-stopper's progress.
Following a failed recruitment policy under Louis Van Gaal, pressure has been growing for the Old Trafford giants to source some up-and-coming talent.
Pickford has been part of Gareth South gate's England Under-21 side and scouts from United were in the crowd at the Toulon tournament watching the keeper.

Manchester United's players are desperate for Ryan Giggs to stay at Old Trafford, according to the Daily Star Sunday.
The legendary winger will likely leave his position as assistant manager following Jose Mourinho's appointment as gaffer.
But the club's players do not want to lose the 42-year-old, who is currently debating his future while on holiday.
Key members of the first-team squad are believed to have enjoyed working with Giggs and will be disappointed if he is edged out of the club.

Ryan Giggs has demanded a summit meeting with Jose Mourinho over his future at Manchester United, writes Neil Moxley in the Sunday People.
The Manchester United legend, currently on holiday in Dubai, wants to meet the club's new boss before deciding whether to stay at the club.
Ryan Giggs will return to England early this week and his first stop will be to seek out Louis Van Gaal's successor.

He wants to find out if the role that has been offered – a coach bridging the first-team and Under-21s – is worthwhile.
And if he does not like the answer he receives, he will bring to an end his 29-year association with the club.
Ryan Giggs wanted to remain as assistant but Mourinho will install long-time confidante Rui Faria into the position.

Wayne Rooney will remain as Manchester United captain after boss Jose Mourinho rang the Old Trafford star to map out the future, writes Steve Bates in the Sunday People.
It's understood Jose Mourinho rang the Man United captain on Friday before Rooney began his preparations for England’s 2-1 friendly win over Australia at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.
And he assured 30-year-old Rooney that he still views him as United’s main man - and the key to a strong dressing room unity going forward.

The pair had an extensive chat about Mourinho’s transfer plans for the summer and he quizzed Rooney on his thoughts about what has been going wrong – and what United need going forward.
Mourinho sees Rooney as a vital component in tackling his job to restore United to their former glory in the same way he embraced Chelsea skipper John Terry in his first spell at Stamford Bridge.
