But what else did the Portuguese have to say in his first interview as boss? Here's the full transcript below.

With regards to becoming Manchester United manager:
“I feel great. I think it comes in the right moment of my career, the “Special one” said.. -  because Manchester United is one of those clubs you really need to be prepared for , because it's a giant club and giant clubs must be for the best managers and I think I am ready for it.
"I am proud, happy, honored and I am ready for it. I like to work and I cannot wait until July 7 to go out on the pitch."

When asked about the glory days of Man United- Under- Sir Alex Ferguson:
"We can look at our club in two perspectives - one is the past three years and one is the history. I prefer to forget the past three years and focus on the giant club I have in my hands now."

Jose Mourinho's message to the fans:
"The message to the fans is that I want to win, and more than that I need the supporters and the players to feel I say that. Yes, I want to focus on the history of this giant club and give what I have and don't have, so I will give absolutely everything to try to go into the direction we all want."

When asked about what supporters should expect:
Jose said, - "I know what they can give me and also I think they know what I can give them. Obviously the most important thing is the players and the relation that I establish with them, but I think it's very important and curious that I play so many times against Manchester United and I play so many times at Old Trafford with other clubs."

When asked about his past encounters with Manchester United:
Mourinho continued - "There was empathy, no problems, and in fact I was pushed by that feeling to say sometimes things that my clubs were not happy with. I remember for example when I won at Old Trafford with Real Madrid and I said that the best team lost, and not many people were happy at Real Madrid!

Mourinho - said he has always felt an affinity with Old Trafford; it has hosted some important memories for me in my career and I have always enjoyed a rapport with the Man United fans. I’m looking forward to being their manager and enjoying their magnificent support in the coming years."
