Reports: Steven Gerrard to manage League One side MK Dons?

STEVEN GERRARD has reportedly been in contact with League One side MK Dons about the vacant manager's role.
Gerrard announced this week he will be leaving MLS side LA Galaxy in December.

The 36-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs, including Liverpool and Celtic.

However, reports suggest the former England captain has been in contact with MK Dons

It is said Gerrard is looking to succeed Karl Robinson who was sacked by the Dons last month after a string of poor results.

They currently sit in 21st place in League One and have not won for six games.

Gerrard is currently working on his Uefa A coaching licence - the second-highest qualification offered.

And the midfielder revealed this week he has had a number of positions offered to him - both on and off the pitch.

"It's certainly not the end of me in football terms," Gerrard said.

"I'm going home to spend time with family and decide the best challenge.

I've got options on the pitch, off the pitch and I've got a bit of thinking to do over the next two, three weeks."

MK Dons chairman Pete Winkelman claimed last week his aim is Premier League football and he will be targeting a manager who "plays modern football".

"We're a young football club and we want to play football like the big boys play," Winkelman said in October.

"We might not play it at the same speed or accuracy but I want our supporters to recognise that football."
