THE Formula One title race between Lewis Hamiilton and Nico Rosberg may still be alive but that did not stop two rival drivers celebrating the forthcoming Day of the Dead in Mexico City.
Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen got into the spirit ahead of Sunday’s Mexican Grand Prix.
The three-day holiday sees thousands dress up as skeletons to honour their deceased relatives and Ricciardo and Verstappen intend to put the frighteners on the Mercedes duo, too.
There has been a Red Bull on the podium in nine of the past 10 races and, with a good chance of rain, Ricciardo is eager to elbow his way into the title tussle.
“It’s been a while since we had a magical Brazil downpour so maybe we can get one of those and have a chance,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rosberg can be crowned world champion at the Mexican Grand Prix this weekend and follow in the footsteps of his father Keke, who achieved the feat in 1982.
For that to happen he would need to win and see team-mate Lewis Hamilton finish 10th or lower.
