DELE ALLI can reach Chelsea legend Frank Lampard’s level - Alan Shearer

DELE ALLI can emulate Frank Lampard’s incredible career with Chelsea and England, according to Alan Shearer.
The Premier League’s record goalscorer has backed the Tottenham star to continue his rise to the top level.

Spurs’ 20-year-old midfielder caught the eye again yesterday, pinching a late equaliser at West Brom for Mauricio Pochettino’s unbeaten side.

Alli squeezed in an effort from around the penalty spot with only minutes to go to earn third-placed Tottenham a point.

It was his third top-flight strike of the season, sparking Shearer to make a bold prediction.

“If he improves his finishing in the next few years, we could be talking about him (Alli) in the same breath as Frank Lampard,” Shearer said on BBC’s Match of the Day.

Alli has a long way to go to match the New York City man’s feats in the Premier League for West Ham, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Lampard netted 177 goals in the top-flight - 57 more than any other midfielder in the division’s history.

Liverpool hero Steven Gerrard is second to the Chelsea legend in terms of goals from midfield with 120, showing how unique Lampard’s achievement was.

The 38-year-old’s trophy haul is impressive too, having won three Premier League titles and the Champions League with the Blues.

Alli came close to glory last season but Spurs were pipped to top spot by Leicester.
