UK: 5 year old Boy dies at Bosworth Water Park in Leicestershire, sparking a double arrest.

A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy has died in tragic circumstances at Bosworth Water Park in Leicestershire, sparking a double arrest.
A man and woman are being questioned by police after the incident in Market Bosworth at about 3.50pm yesterday.

The boy was pulled from the water after a shocked child discovered his body while searching for his goggles in the water.

Sheena Thomas said on Facebook: "My 11yr old nephew pulled this lil boy from the water after feeling his hair whilst searching for his goggles he had lost..

"This is properly something my nephew with never 4get (sic)..."

First responders tried to administer CPR before rushing the boy to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire, where he later died.

One witness said on Facebook: “I was helping today with the CPR and it truly was the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever done.”

Lisa-Jane Wood, the boy's aunt, explained on a social media site what she believed had happened.

She wrote: “My understanding is he asked if he could go play with his sister in the playground. What happened on they way there no one knows and we will properly never know.

"The mother of the child is pregnant and became un well and her partner was packing the car while looking after there nearly one year old child.

"They never believed for a second he would go near the water as they had already played in the water earlier that day.

"The believed he had gone to his sister. It was only on her return they asked where he was and she did not know.

"They went to the playground and he was no where in site.

"On coming back they seen a man pulling a child out of the water.

"They only know it was him because of the shorts he was wearing.

"We will never know why he went by the water but it's something this family will have to live with for the rest of there lives (sic)."

Parents have since called for lifeguards to be present at the lake at all times.

A staff member at Bosworth Water Park refused to say whether the site is patrolled by lifeguards at all times the park is open.

A sign at the park tells parents the area is "unsupervised" and all children "must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times".

One parent wrote on the water park's Facebook page: "After today's tragedy, don't you think it wise to either, hire a lifeguard to man the pools at all times or close the pools for swimmers and paddlers?"

Another parent said while she watched her six-year-old child she lost sight of her "in the blink of an eye" due to how busy the park was.

She said it would be "impossible" to watch two children in the waters and called for the park to "look into" hiring lifeguards.

A park member of staff told Express.co.uk: "When he (the boy) was pulled out, there was a lifeguard and police officer present."

However, he could not confirm whether the lifeguard had been at the scene when the incident began.

He said the police officer was only on scene by coincidence, and had not been responding to another incident.   A Facebook tribute by Reagan Birley said: “To this little boy’s family I am so so sorry. Things can change in seconds and this must be horrific for any family to go through.”

The park's official Facebook account said: "From all of the staff at Bosworth Water Park we would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to everyone effected by this tragic loss of life."

A police spokesman said: "An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the death. Two people, a man and woman, have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in police custody.

"We would ask that people do not speculate about the incident and the circumstances surrounding the death and leave the authorities to carry out their investigations.

"If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information that could assist with our enquiries please contact us. Equally if you recorded any video footage at the park yesterday around the blue lagoon beach we’d like to speak to you."

The park's owner Nigel Riley said it was a "dreadful incident".

Under the children's section of its website, the park lists boating and pedalos among suita
