Jose Mourinho's Manchester United revolution is now firmly underway.
Pictured for the first time on the training ground with his players, Mourinho appeared in a relaxed mood as he put his squad through their paces at the club's Carrington base.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager was officially unveiled as United manager on July 5 and immediately cited his desire to take the club back to the top of the English game.
Mourinho has inherited a squad packed with talent and, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic has yet to link up with the club following his post-Euro 2016 break, new signings Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly were hard at work with their new team-mates.
Mkhitaryan, a £26million capture from Borussia Dortmund, stretched out with Belgian Adnan Januzaj during the session, while former Villarreal defender Bailly also showed the watching Mourinho what he is capable of.
Mourinho was joined on the training field by assistant manager Rui Faria as well as goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro, although there was no sign of goalkeeper David de Gea, who remains on holiday following Euro 2016.
A host of United players return for the new season with a point to prove, perhaps led by Spaniard Juan Mata, who Mourinho sold and then criticised while the two were together at Chelsea.
Mata will be fighting for his United future during pre-season, while the likes of Daley Blind, Ander Herrera and Memphis Depay all still need to prove their worth following big money moves to the club.
A welcome sight on the training pitch was defender Luke Shaw, who looks set to return for United in their pre-season friendly at Wigan on Saturday having spent the last 10 months on the sidelines after breaking his leg in October.
