London: Chelsea's Antonio Conte Targets £33m Michy Batshuayi Transfer Deal

London: Chelsea sent doctors to Belgium's training camp in Bordeaux today where the striker, who scored 23 goals last season, passed an initial medical.
Batshuayi, 22, who scored in Belgium's 4-0 Euro 2016 win over Hungary on Sunday, missed breakfast with his team-mates and was later pulled out of a planned appearance at a press conference.

Tottenham had also been keen on the striker but, thanks to Conte's reputation, Chelsea has stolen a march on their rivals and Batshuayi becomes the first signing of the Conte era at Stamford Bridge.

Marseille needed to sell before July 5 to avoid a transfer embargo, after investigations into their finances by the French football regulators.

Batshuayi will have a more complete medical in London and complete his move when Belgium is out of the European Championships. The striker, who started his career at Standard Liege, has agreed a five-year deal at Chelsea.

Chelsea also want a central midfielder, with Roma's Radja Nainggolan the subject two offers - the last of £28m - but that deal has proved complicated.

Roma centre back Kostas Manolas is also a target and the transfer activity is expected to step up dramatically once Conte finishes his Euro 2016 duties with Italy, who he has steered into the quarter-finals, and finally joins his new club.
