JIMMY WALKER held off Jason Day to clinch the US PGA Championship.
The five-time winner on the PGA Tour clinched his first major title by holding his nerve on the very last putt of the Championship.
Walker and Day both carded 67 on the final round, that saw the former finish on -14 overall with Day just a single shot behind.
The 37-year-old failed to record a single bogey on his final outing, and despite Day putting for Eagle on the 18th, Walker maintained concentration to seal victory over the world No.1.
"Jason Day put a bit of pressure on me, I was thinking if I made birdie on 17 I could see it out,” Walker said.
"Golf is not an easy game, Jason is a true champion by making eagle at the last. I had to make a par and I got it.
"There was a lot of emotion going on out there, it was tough, I am not going to lie. But I felt a tonne of support from the fans."
