Gunmen leave one woman dead and four more injured in two SEPARATE shootings in Texas

Police in Austin, Texas said that an “active shooter” had on Sunday caused “multiple victims,” with local media reports saying that at least one person was dead.
Police said via Twitter there were separate shootings downtown “within the same area,” and that “both scenes are secure at this time.”

A woman in her 30s was killed in the incident, the Austin American-Statesman newspaper reported, citing county emergency medical personnel.
At least three other people were rushed to a local hospital, the newspaper said.
Police across the country, and especially in Texas, remain on edge weeks after a black extremist shot dead five officers protecting a peaceful march against police brutality in Dallas.

The incident unfolded near San Jacinto Boulevard & E 6th Street, a popular clubbing district, just before 3am local time on Sunday morning.
One of the scenes of the shooting is said to be the Friends Bar.

A passer-by, @cailaboo122, posted: “So thankful to be safe after numerous gun shots were fired on 6th street tonight in Austin! We walked into the gunshots thinks we were ok.”
Mounted police were drafted in to clear crowds which gathered at the scene.

Austin Police are requesting anyone with photos or video footage to get in touch

The state of Texas has an "open-carry" gun law, meaning firearms in holsters can be freely carried on the streets.

America's gunlaws are controversial and have been closely scrutinised over a spate of mass shootings recently.
