WILLIAN has insisted he was never going to quit Chelsea to rejoin Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, and he signed a new deal because he wants to win titles at Stamford Bridge.
But the Brazilian wideman, who United were ready to offer £30million for this summer, has warned that Chelsea have to improve if they are to be contenders – and they have to attack.
Last season’s Player of the Year signed a new four-year deal worth around £120,000 a week last month in a major boost for new manager Antonio Conte.
After Chelsea lost 3-2 to Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup in Ann Arbor, he said: “I signed a new contract and that shows how much I want to stay. But I want to win titles.
“I have a great relationship with Jose, but I am Chelsea. When someone like him is interested in you then you are happy. But I signed because I like being a Chelsea player and I see good things here.
“The game against Madrid was disappointing. We are going to have to improve a lot. We have the players to do this and the manager.
“When we have the ball we have to play good football. This season it can’t be just about defence. We have to attack.”
